Hedge your rent going up before your landlord does.

Rent Index turns the median asking rent of a city into a tradable price. Long it, short it, no lease required.

How it works

A published number, and a market on top of it.

Three parts, and nothing hidden between them.

The rusticated stone base of a civic building, lit low and warm against a deep blue sky

Reference price

Each city has a published median rent index with a documented methodology and a fixed update schedule. The number comes first; the market is built on top of it.

Open a position

Go long or short the index with a perpetual contract. No expiry, no delivery, no physical lease. You trade the level of the index, not an apartment.

Funded, not settled

Positions stay open as long as they are funded and solvent, the same as any perpetual. A funding rate keeps the market tethered to the published index.

Markets

Seven cities to start.

One index each, one token across all of them.

Converted to USD at a fixed reference rate (EUR 1.08, GBP 1.27, AED pegged at 3.6725 per USD). Changes are shown as an average monthly rate; markets published quarterly or annually are converted to that basis.

Why now

Rent went up. Ownership went away.

Rents have climbed for a decade while ownership moved further out of reach. The exposure is universal and involuntary: you are short your own rent whether you think about it that way or not.

A public market on the index is the first way to hold a view on that number instead of only absorbing it.

One token, every market

Cities are markets, not coins.

There is exactly one token: $RENT. Every city is a plain index code — NYC-RENT, PAR-RENT, LDN-RENT — the way an exchange lists tickers without minting a coin for each one.

Fee share, governance and curation concentrate on that single token. Adding a city adds a market, never another asset to hold.
